Our Story

Heartbeat is the prayer room of our vibrant bilingual church, Houses of Light. Since the establishment of our church in the year 2000, we have been a multigenerational community that is passionate about prayer. In 2009 a new expression of worship and prayer began to emerge that reached a new level of profoundness, intimacy and joy. In the wake of this new expression, our prayer room was born.

Originally established as Northridge House of Prayer, we opened as a separate organization from our church with the intention of being a regional prayer room. From the very beginning our prayer room has focused on ministering to the Lord through live sets of worship and prayer, much like the tabernacle of David. Our pursuit of God aligns with David’s famous request in Psalms 27:4. Throughout the years of seeking Jesus collectively, we have experienced greater depth in the Lord and His word, while also increasing our hours of live worship and prayer. Our musicians and intercessors comprise of moms, teens, young adults, grandparents, and more- all coming together with the same heart for Jesus.

In 2021, the Lord revealed to us the importance of prioritizing His presence and restoring prayer to the heart of the church. The Lord then gave us an image of our prayer room as a beating heart at the center of the church. We couldn’t shake off this imagery and felt it was the beginning of something new the Lord was doing in our community and even our region. Through prayer and confirmation, we embraced this key aspect of our identity. In early 2024 our church and prayer room were officially united and we changed our name to “Heartbeat: Houses of Light Prayer Room.” Heartbeat is a space for anyone to freely draw near Jesus and dwell in His presence.
